The most accurate diagnostic tool for a modern dentist is computed tomography (CT). This layer-by-layer X-ray evaluation of the patient’s dental and maxillofacial system allows the assessment of the smallest structures of the oral cavity in a full 3D image.
Without this research, it is impossible to plan dental implantation, orthodontic treatment, or prosthetics. CT is also used to diagnose and plan the treatment of developmental abnormalities, injuries, fistulas, tumors, and various inflammatory diseases.
